Amanda Kunefke Michael

Amanda Kunefke Michael is a mother of four beautiful children, a loving wife and an artist. She was born and raised in the beautiful Mississippi Delta, which is rich in its history of art, blues music and southern tradition. She grew up on a cotton plantation where her father still farms today. Much of her insight for her art comes from her childhood while playing in the cotton fields with her brother and three sisters.

She paints mixed media, textured canvases. She uses rich colors and deep textures, which give her art a very distinctive glow and look. She uses different types of metal shavings to accent her paintings. Copper, brass and stainless steel are a few of the metals she uses. These metal accents naturally tarnish overtime which creates a living picture that is constantly changing in colors.

Amanda has a very strong faith and belief in family. In every piece of art works she puts three wood chips in the corner of her paintings. This has become to be known as her signature. The three wood chips symbolize Faith, Family and Love.

Although much of Amanda’s inspiration comes from her life experiences she has been strongly influenced by her favorite artist Alice Hammell. Ms. Hammell is another Mississippi mixed media artist.
